What is GFSI?

The Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) is a private organization, established in 2000 and managed by an international trade association, the Consumer Goods Forum. GFSI is focused on the continuous improvement of food safety management systems along all steps of the supply chain to ensure confidence in the delivery of safe food to consumers worldwide. GFSI provides a platform for collaboration between some of the world’s leading food safety experts from retailers, manufacturers and food service companies, food packaging providers, service providers associated with the food supply chain, international organizations, academia and government.

What is SQF?

SQF stands for Safe Quality Food and is a global food safety program, recognized by the GFSI. To achieve SQF certification, suppliers complete extensive training; develop, document, and implement food safety and quality plans; and undergo a third-party audit. SQF certification provides assurance that the products sold by certified manufactures such as Novolex have passed rigorous international standards for food safety and quality.

What is BRC?

The British Retail Consortium (BRC) is a trade association in the UK food retail industry created in 1992. The BRC Global Standard for Food Safety is recognized by the GFSI and was developed by food industry experts from retailers, manufacturers and food service organizations. The Standard provides a framework to manage product safety, integrity, legality and quality, and the operational controls for these criteria in the food and food ingredient manufacturing, processing and packing industry.

What is FSSC 22000?

The FSSC 22000 Food Safety System Certification provides a framework for effectively managing an organization’s food safety responsibilities. FSSC 22000 is recognized by the GFSI and is based on existing ISO Standards. The certification demonstrates a company has a robust Food Safety Management System in place that meets the requirements of customers and consumers.
